AGM-Captains Speech

I would like to start by thanking our immediate past Captain Paul Malin for his year in office. Doing a great job throughout the pandemic & keeping the club on the right track.

Thank you for the honour & privilege of being the first club captain of Powfoot Golf Club.

Thanks to all the previous Captains Ladies & Gents whose names are on the boards (some more than once). Without your service to the club there would be no Powfoot Golf Club.

To all the past and present members of all the Committees for volunteering their time and for their efforts in taking this club forward into what I believe is one of the best in the South of Scotland.

I look forward to working with everyone at Powfoot golf club I will give 100% commitment and do my very best with all decisions made for the benefit of Powfoot golf club

About me

I have been a member here for 14 years. Ten years on the gents committee. 5 years as Gents Match Secretary. Prior to joining Powfoot I was at Lockerbie and Gretna.

The last few years have been very challenging, and we all hope things will get back to normality soon.

Now I have a challenge for you the members.

I would encourage you to give a bit back to your club. Whether it’s starting duties, divoting, volunteering for golf week, litter picking, repairing pitch marks. Everyone working together makes a huge difference.

This year we are hosting the finials of the Scottish Regional championship weekend 3-4 September.

Finally, please bear with me as I develop and grow into the Captains Role. If I can’t answer any of your golf club relevant queries or problems, I will find out the answer and get back to you.
