Captain Update 14/09/21

Dear Fellow Members

As many of you have observed building work on the Queensberry Bay Caravan site is now underway in the field adjacent to the 2nd hole.
The original planning permission was applied for in May 2016 and at that time the Club & Committee made no objection to the then owners’ application. Planning permission was granted in March 2018 and in October 2018 John Watson and Joanne Doherty sold Queensberry Bay to Verdant Leisure.

The Committee, since Verdant Leisure purchased the site, have had several meetings and discussions with the site management team. At these meetings the club have made our safety concerns known to the owners. These include the risks to people, property and the integrity of the 2nd hole.

We have been informed by the owners that they have carried out their own risk assessments and that they are monitoring where golf balls land on their property. It should be noted that Verdant Leisure have complied with the original planning permission for the development on their property.

The Committee continues to keep the communication lines open with the owners with the aim of maintaining the course in its current layout. However, the Committee will continue to monitor the situation.
