Captain Update August

After what felt like one of the wettest summers in 2024, this year we seem to be basking in glorious sunshine daily.

The Committee have always been committed to investing in both the course and the infrastructure of the club with a view to achieving continuous improvement. It is now assessed that there is a real and identified need to invest in our greens keeping team to maintain that direction of travel on the course and we will therefore shortly be advertising a 2-year apprenticeship post in green keeping.

The Committee believe this is the right step for the club and a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate. More details will follow.

Last year Scottish Golf increased the individual levy on all golfers from £14.50 to £17.50. Additionally, the club pay £3.75 per golfer to the South of Scotland Golfers Association (SSGA).

Previously the SSGA fee was not shown as a charge item in the annual subscriptions for members. The Committee have made the decision to now show both the Scottish Golf levy and the SSGA levy as separate chargeable items in members invoicing.

The club are currently actively recruiting replacement caterer & bar steward after Maria & Sean resigned. We wish them success in their new venture.
