Captain’s August update

Captains Report

I think it’s fair to say that the weather during the summer months has been unpredictable. This has had a significant effect on George and his teams plans for the course. This wet and mild weather has increased grass growth across all areas.

The course is in excellent condition, and I hear lots of praise from members & visitors on their experience of playing at Powfoot Golf Club. Please ensure that when you visit the club to play golf you book on the BRS app.

The solar project is almost complete. The panels and battery bank have been working for over a month. On the sunniest days they have generated around 80% of the club’s electricity usage. There have been some software issues with the car charger stations and the club are waiting for this to be resolved before we start using them.

The second project the painting of the clubhouse has commenced.

Golf Week and the club Opens continue to be popular. On behalf of the Committee, I would like to thank the volunteer starters and the course volunteers for volunteering their time.

Lastly, please continue to respect your course. Repair divots and pitch marks. Respect the golfer behind rake the bunkers and replace the rake correctly. Keep trolleys and buggies off the aprons, greens and tees. Course etiquette should be extended to all other players.
