Captains June Update

Dear Fellow Members

It was really exciting to see the golf course and clubhouse so busy last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I do believe we had over 176 gents playing in the AFL Trophy open competition on the Sunday which was an excellent turnout. All competitions are being very well supported. The Ladies Charity Day raised over £1,800 for Disability Sport – a fantastic effort in these trying times. Thank you for your continued support.

Martin and Paulina have settled in very nicely and I continue to get very positive feedback from members and visitors about their enthusiasm, standard of service and, most importantly, tremendous value for money and high quality food that they serve on a daily basis. If you have not tried their offerings yet I would highly recommend that you do so.

From next week we will move to level one in this area. We will update you with how this affects the club as soon as we get an update from Scottish Golf.  It would be remiss of me not to advise you that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and we must follow all the guidelines as laid down by the Scottish Government and Scottish Golf. The wearing of face coverings is mandatory in all indoor areas of the clubhouse, unless seated. Social distancing is still one of the best ways of not transmitting this awful virus.

“Ask not what Powfoot Golf Club can do for you but ask what you can do for Powfoot Golf Club”.

I am personally asking for you, “our members” help and support with the approaching Golf Week. We need volunteers to man the chuck wagon at the ninth hole. We need volunteer starters every day and we need volunteers to hand out the cards and sell raffle tickets in the clubhouse.

I am looking for, and asking for, members who are able and willing to give up a couple of hours of their time on one day or more during Golf Week to help me and the committee ensure that this very important event runs as smoothly as possible. The week is not only financially very important for the Club but is also a fantastic opportunity to promote our golf course and our hospitality to a very broad base of potential future members and visitors.

Those members that can and would like to give up some time and volunteer to support Powfoot Golf Club during golf week should contact the office so we can put together a Volunteer Rota.  I would like to have the volunteer rota in place and published by Mid-June if at all possible.

Thank you, once again, for your continued support.
