Captain’s March 2022 Update

Dear Fellow Members

Firstly, thank you to those who attended the club AGM in February and for giving me the honour of becoming Club Captain.

As the Scottish Government starts to lift its COVID legislation, I am sure we are all looking to get back to some normality in everyday life. Please though continue be safe as the virus is still with us.

At the AGM we announced the introduction of individual member golf insurance. For this year, the Club will cover the members’ cost and from November 2022 members will be charged £3 for this cover. Visitors will be charged for their cover from this season. More details can be found on the website and posters with details are in the locker areas.  Please bear in mind that this cover is for play at Powfoot Golf Club only.

The new practice area will be officially opened on Saturday 19 March 2022 by the Golf Development Group.

The Committee is always looking to develop and improve facilities at the Club and as part of this we will be replacing the current on course toilet facilities with a new Kazuba K1 toilet. Details are on the website and on the notice board.

We will be hosting the Scottish Men’s Area Team Championship Finals in September and in 2023 we will be hosting the Scottish Girls’ Open Championship in April. These are prestigious events in the Scottish Amateur Golf calendar and show how highly regarded our golf club is viewed.

This year’s Gents opening day competition will be a Shotgun 4BBB starting at 9am on Saturday March 26. Later in the day at 2pm the Ladies will start their 2022 Season. Good luck to everyone for the coming season.

Finally, as this is the first season where the club is run from one Committee, please bear with me and the Committee as we grow and develop this new structure. At the AGM I encouraged you “to give a bit back to your club.” If you would like to be involved on any of the sub-committees or to volunteer, please contact the office on 01461 204100.
