Captains Update

Dear Fellow Members

As you are aware, we will be holding the Ratification AGM on Tuesday 9 November 2021 at 6pm.

The purpose of the meeting will be to ratify the zoom AGM held in February 2021. At this meeting there will be no forwarding of additional motions as per a standard AGM. These can be raised at the 2022 AGM which will be take place on Friday 11 February 2022.

The most important point of this meeting is for members to vote on the recommended changes to the constitution. These changes were first proposed in 2020. Debate and discussion regarding these changes has taken place over the last 21 months. Now is the time to vote on these changes.

Put simply we are recommending that Powfoot Golf Club becomes fit for purpose in the 21st Century with no gender bias. This means-

• One elected Committee.
• One Club Captain and vice-captain. These positions, of course, can be held by male or female full members.
• No separate Ladies and Gents committees thus removing the need for a Gents or Ladies Captain and vice-captain.
• One Match Secretary supported by assistants.
• All club golf competitions would follow the same guidelines, including prize payments which would be managed by the office.

It is important that as many members turn up as possible to vote on this proposed change.
