Dear Fellow Members.
The Scottish Government has announced the lifting of the national travel restrictions with effect Friday the 16th April 2021. This means that our members living in Scotland but outside Dumfries & Galloway will be able to travel to Powfoot to play golf again. This does not apply to our members living in other parts of the UK. However, those members should not have to wait much longer as the UK travel restrictions should be removed on the 26th April 2021 and we very much look forward to welcoming all of our members back to Powfoot Golf Club.
The newly refurbished clubhouse will be open from the 26th April 2021 for non-alcoholic light refreshments. Excellent value and very good food from our caterer, Martin, will be available indoors from this date. Continuing the food theme, the Friday Night Takeaway continues to be very popular. I can honestly say it is well worth trying as I have done on the last two occasions and will be doing so again this Friday. I know from having conversations with Martin and Paulina that they are extremely grateful for the support our members have been giving them both. Please remember that they are doing takeaway food every day except Thursdays from around 10.30 a.m. to around 2.30 p.m. If you have not tried this yet I suggest you give it a go.
As most of you are aware, members can now bring guests that live within D&G to play golf and from Friday the 16th April, members will be able to have guests accompany them from anywhere in Scotland. We will not be taking any standalone visitors until the 26th April 2021 as the office shop and clubhouse will not be open before that date.
The teeing areas and the aprons continue to show signs of improvement with quite a lot of grass in some areas. Unfortunately, the frosty mornings have slowed down the progress the green keepers were making but we will certainly get there.
I would like to thank all our members once again for their continued patience and understanding during these unprecedented and challenging times. I am sure we are all looking forward to returning to normality soon.
Kind Regards
Paul Malin
Club Captain.
